Safeguarding statement
WheelPass connects learner drivers, some aged 16 or 17, with approved driving instructors. Keeping people safe, and children in particular, comes first.
What we do
- Learners must be 16 or over. Instructors are told when a learner is under 18.
- Instructors are checked against the DVSA register of approved driving instructors. That is all the verified badge means. We do not claim any other vetting.
- Chat opens only after an instructor and learner are connected, and is text only. It carries a notice to keep conversation in the app.
- Every instructor accepts a code of conduct: communication in the app, no private contact with under-18s, safe pick-ups and drop-offs.
- Learners see only the districts an instructor covers, never their home postcode. Instructors see only a district until a lesson is approved.
- Anyone can report a person, a conversation or a lesson, and block someone, from the app. Reports about under-18s, and any safeguarding concern, are treated as high priority and read by our safeguarding lead [within a set time].
- A reported conversation can be read by a small number of trained staff, and each time is logged.
- We can suspend someone straight away, without deleting anything, while we look into a concern.
- We tell the police or the local authority safeguarding team where we believe a child or adult is at risk.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
To raise a concern: use Report in the app, or contact our safeguarding lead: [name], [email], [phone].
